Curriculum Companions
To help children, throughout the curriculum, we have a number of curriculum companions.
The teachers use these curriculum companions to support children’s learning and to talk
about developing different skills.
Detective Dom

Detective helps children to investigate. He helps them to:
- ask simple questions and recognising that they can be answered in different ways
- observe closely, using simple equipment
- perform simple tests
- identify and classify
- use their observations and ideas to suggest answers to questions
- Gather and record data to help in answering questions.

Exploreasorus

|
Exploreasorus helps children to explore the world around them:
- To be aware of place and people in the past, present and future (including imaginative worlds), physical and human features, inc culture and social aspects
- Collect, evaluate and communicate information

Mr Make-it

|
Mr Make-it helps children to be creative. He helps them to:
- produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences
- become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques
- evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design
- develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully
- build and apply a repertoire of knowledge, understanding and skills in order to design and make high-quality prototypes and products for a wide range of users
- critique, evaluate and test their ideas and products and the work of others

Reggie Look-it-Up

Reggie Look-it-up helps children to use IT to research and investigate. He also helps children communicate what they know. He helps children to:
- understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science to research and investigate
- Use their basic skills, including phonic knowledge to read and write and communicate their learning
- Use the features of a range of genre to produce an end product
- To ask question and use books and IT to find the answer
- To programme IT for a given purpose

Proffessor Who-Believes

Professor Who-Believes helps children in an imaginative world. He encourages children to:
- act out real life scenarios, using props and resources to represent things
- make believe
- Problem solve and suggest solutions
- Retell stories and/or events real or imaginary, from their own experience and /or that of others
